col·lab·o·rate (verb): To work together, especially in a joint intellectual effort.

Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many advisers bring success - Proverbs 15:22

A collaborative system is one that works with people and other systems to get jobs done faster.  Each person and each software program has various strengths and weaknesses.  Working alone they can only accomplish so much.  Working together, strength combines with strength to increase the likelihood of success.

The goal of this site in to promote the development and creation of more powerful and interactive software.  Such software can make our work easier while increasing quality and eliminating many errors.  I am actively involved in creating this kind of software for manufacturing industries, although the ideas and techniques can work for all sectors.

Why computers are not being effectively used

In a nutshell: Today's software programs are usually tools that people operate manually, rather than collaborators that actively help people get the work done.

Who are the Collaborators?

Software can be designed to work with people, with other software, or it can help people work with other people.  Each case involves different software designs.

Where can computers help?

Virtually every area of  society - if people use computers there, computers can collaborate.  This page gives many examples.

Collaborative Design Software

My work involves creating knowledge-based software that can collaborate with designers to bring products from concept to customer faster, and with higher quality.

This site is just getting started!  There will be brand new and improved content every week, so if you are interested in the idea or implementation of collaborative systems, be sure to come back often!
