Tools for Design and Manufacturing

edit print
I have spent some years working on intelligent tools for industrial design, namely XMD and VMM. More specifically, the tools have all been related to injection molds, although these can very easily be adapted to serve other industries, if we only pool together knowledge. What's been released so far is only a start of what's possible.

I now aim to bring this new technology to market. The technology makes creating such software substantially easier than before. Yet there are so many possible applications, and we must focus on the ones that bring the most value and competitive advantage to the companies which buy into it. Many of these possibilities can happen soon. All it takes is to discuss what we want to see, followed by a little effort to develop tools that make these a reality.

  • A tool to help with quoting. Spreadsheets are a nice, but a smart system that can really organize the quoting process, predict what the mold's gotta have, generate lots of quotes fast,, and when we get the contract forward the information to designers so they can get going quickly.

  • more smarter components. XMD has some great tools for some stuff, but we need more. lots more. Examples:
- smart springs calculator
- slides and lifters
- core pulls

  • a design checker. With all the rush to get jobs out, its hard to keep quality up, and it really bites when mistakes have to be fixed on the floor. If VMM could tell you right away if something is wrong, that could be big.

  • your idea here.
